my architect’s wings insufficient to hold you.
Now, if I trip on the wind, melt down this calculated
freedom, teach me simple arithmetic.

Take me beyond the island I have become,
remember me to the mainland. Carry the feathers
I lost to you back to a time before the sun,
show me again how to love the air.
