《湖中岛》

神啊，维纳斯啊，墨丘利啊，盗贼的守护神，
我恳求您，到时候，赐给我一间小烟草店吧，
里面有小亮盒子，
一摞摞整齐地排列在架子上，
还有松散的卡文迪什烟片，
和粗烟丝，
还有明亮的弗吉尼亚烟叶，
散放在透明玻璃柜台下，
还有一台秤
不太油腻，
路过的村民顺便进来聊两句，
撂句俏皮话，并梳理一下头发。

神啊，维纳斯啊，墨丘利啊，盗贼的守护神，
赐我一间小小的烟草店吧，
或者让我从事任何职业，
只要不是这讨厌的写作，
它让我不停地动脑筋。

And the votailles dropping in for a word or two in passing,
For a flip word, and to tidy their hair a bit.

Lend me a little tobacco-shop,
                  or install me in any profession
Save this damn'd profession of writing,
                  where one needs one's brains all the time.

惊喜啊忒绿，一下上了三首译作，我要慢慢欣赏

对 the votailles 的翻译更符合语境，比林木的具体，比我的严谨，太好了

the bright glass cases译成透明，我咋没想到，，总体要赞

我至今搞不清楚到底是什么意思。。。

Votailles 这个词有鸡、鸡肉、第一年的士兵、妓女的意思。这里应该是妓女whores。我翻成了广义的村民
