它等待着。它让自己静止不动，并认定

我想这永恒
就藏在抽屉里

我来到这里之前从未听过，
我为你而恨。

意思是，如果狗
在地毯上撒尿，我恨它
因为你，对你来说真是不幸。

意思是，如果你一人独处，
当爱就在周围，
我们在一种不孤单的声音中
脱下我们孤单的帽子。

是的：）其意译与汉语里“替你难过”意思相近。直译是   我为你而讨厌它（事物）。下面举个栗子：
if you tell someone about something that happened to you and they say "I hate that for you" that they feel upset on your behalf or if they say "I love that for you" it means that they're excited for you.

For example, if you tell me "Ah, my car broke down while it was raining last night and I had to call a tow truck. It took two hours for them to show up." Then, I might respond with "I hate that for you," because I think that sounds like a terrible experience.

Another example is that if you tell me "Guess what? I got a promotion at work so my coworkers are going to buy me a meal!" Then, I might respond with "I love that for you," because I'm happy to hear that things are going well for you.


这首诗里作者巧妙用了这两个俗语搭配（另一个是tip one’s hat)表达了首歌的主题：城市人的过分自我、孤独感、而又不愿意，或者不知道如何与周围人和事交往，还有对这种现象的理解与尊重。
